Promise Keeper

Updated: Dec 11, 2025

The Lord is faithful to His word!

So much so, that He promises in Isaiah 55:10-11 that it will not return unto Him void, rather it goes forth and accomplishes all that He has set it to! Just as the rain and snow falls from heaven and does not return until it has watered the earth. It is the same with His word!

I’ve made mention of this before but I love to admire creation. Whether it’s my dog, or a plant and I see that from the beginning of the earth; when God said let there be light (Genesis 1:3), when He gave one light to rule over the day and the lesser light to rule over the night that the sun and the moon still stand (Genesis 1:16). The trees are still producing fruit of its own kind. That the birds still fly and the fish still swim, it encourages me that His word is reliable. Since He spoke creation into being once, it has not ceased.

You can be sure that He is coming through for you. The night season won’t last always. He is working in your waiting. If He has made you a promise it is sure to come to pass.

Let’s go back to Isaiah 55, we’ll take it from verses 8-11.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater,

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

There is so much here in this portion of scripture and I want to expand on God’s promise that the word He has sent will go forth and bud.

What does that look like practically?

In a normal year we are familiar with different seasons: spring, summer, autumn, winter. And we are familiar with the process plants go through at each stage. The reason I am highlighting this is because God’s word is likened to water that waters the soil of our lives.

And I want you to see His word and promises in that way. In the same way that when winter comes the naked eye is unable to perceive what is happening below but, the roots of the plants are standing strong waiting for the spring showers to give it the necessary energy required for it to burst forth from the earth. It is the same in our lives.

On the surface level it may look like there is no return on the promise, that too much time has passed, the situation is getting even more impossible than when you first received the word. But, the Lord’s promise to us is that His ways are higher than our ways as are His thoughts.

Every gardener knows what each of his plants needs and when. What season to sow, feed, reap and I want to encourage you that it is the same with our God. He is tending to the garden of your life. Every word He has declared over you has its own harvest time.

He is a covenant keeping God.

A covenant is more than a promise, it can be defined as a binding agreement between two parties. Between God and humanity. What an incredible assurance? God, the One who is infallible, perfect and unable to ever go back on His word has given us an eternal assurance through the finished work of the cross that we would never be separated from Him, that He will always be with us (Matthew 28:20).

You can expect GOOD things, a GOOD result from the word of God. We have access into the holy of holies now. (Hebrews 10:19) We have access to our inheritance from now.

In Hebrews 11:3 it says that the worlds were framed by the word of God and we know that in Proverbs 18:21 that

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.”

There is such power in your confession. Your very words can create the world you live in.

What you experience and see can be exacerbated or negated by the word of God. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God but so does worry, doubt and unbelief.

Partner with what the Lord has declared to be true for you, not what experience has taught you, lies the enemy has fed you but what the Lord has said.

The word of God is life itself. By it the world and all we see was created, Ruach Elohim is described as the life of God. It’s first mention is in Genesis 1:2 when He spoke the world into existence. When you declare the word into a dead situation things come back to life. When you speak the word of God into dark situations the darkness is expelled.

My charge to you is to take a hold of this word for yourself for real and give it a week or so. Watch how as you put the word to work miracles begin to follow you.

Angels harken to the voice of God’s word which means that as you declare the word you are literally invoking angelic activity on your behalf! (Psalm 103:20)

Believe God to be a covenant keeper. You can trust Him with your future, He is reliable. The same yesterday, today and forever.

Allow the words of this song to ruminate in your spirit as you take a hold of the word of God and put it to work in your life!

There is no situation too hard, no promise left unkept. He is working in your waiting, He is standing by your side and will never ever fail you!
