Dream big dreams. We serve a big and mighty God. A God who is our Father in Heaven. A God who only wants the best for His children and one thing He has been speaking to me about and, maybe even yourself as a reader is that the limits are off in and through Him.
The Bible says in Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV)
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
I feel like this title sounds so cliche lol. You know ‘you can be anything you want to be when you grow up’. ‘The sky is the limit’ etc. and as much as it sounds so simple, it is true.
And I want to encourage you in this. It is okay to dream big dreams with the Lord. I know we no longer live for ourselves seeking self-ambition or doing things the way the world does it but, please do continue to dream with the Lord. Your big dream may be to simply have your own family someday, to be married, a mother, a father. To be a business owner, to run a marathon, to become a missionary, to own your own house one day. And these big dreams aren’t silly ones, for many in the Bible their big dream was just the same. Abraham’s dream was becoming a father, Hannah’s dream was becoming a mother, Ruth’s desire was to be married, King Solomon’s desire was for more wisdom and so many others. Nothing is impossible with or for our God. (Luke 1:37)
Allow the Lord into that part of your life and heart. Give Him your desires. I love the book of Matthew and his perspective of Jesus’ teachings on the Mount at the beginning of His ministry (chapters 5-7). I particularly enjoy Matthew 6 with Jesus’ encouragement not to worry about simple things because of who our God is. And in Matthew 7 Jesus encourages us to keep asking, seeking and knocking (v 7-12). I want to home in on what Jesus says in verses 9 to 11 (NLT).
You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.
Jesus is saying that if we who are sinful (have the capacity to sin) can give good gifts to our children how much more will our Heavenly Father give us what we ask for? He is a loving Father and He is perfect in all of His ways. He doesn’t even have the capacity or ability to do wrong. So if we can give our children good gifts just imagine what your Father has in store for you when you ask Him, trust Him, seek Him.
We see throughout scripture how God changes situations around 180°. Where He makes a way where there seems to be no way so I want to encourage you. If you’re in a place of feeling disheartened by your situation seemingly never changing, be rest assured that God is working in your waiting. The Bible says hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life (Proverbs 13:12).
Don’t allow your situations or circumstances to dictate your faith or emotions but let your faith determine how you see those same situations and circumstances. Allow yourself to dream again, remain confident in the hope that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion too that final day (Philippians 1:6).
Find comfort in the word, making it your place of habitation. Reminding yourself of the promises of God and His faithfulness from age to age continually. He is faithful, He is trustworthy. His word remains forevermore.
Dream with Him, allow Him to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you could ever ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). He loves you endlessly, immeasurably. And ONLY has good thoughts towards you and good plans for you. Trust Him today.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I thank You that you know the plans that You have for me. I thank You that they are plans to prosper me to give me a future and a hope.
And Lord, I give my dreams to You. Your word says that we can make our own plans but that You will give us the right answer. So Lord, I give it all to You asking for Your wisdom and guidance, thanking You in advance for all that You have in store for me.
I choose to trust You with my future completely, relinquishing all control and choosing to see you as the One who is able to do wonders.
In Your precious name Jesus I pray, amen.
